Defending champions Passenga out

Newcomers Barding deemed the national high school football boys
defending champions hopes to retain their title at the Airtel Rising
stars Term 2 Kenya Secondary School Sports Association Games in
Kisumu.

Defending champions Passenga High went down 0-2 courtesy of Benjamin
Ojiambo of Barding from Lake region who sank the hopefuls efforts and
qualified for today’s (Saturday)finals.

Former Tusker FC assistant coach George Owoko led the side to the
victors throne and they will now meet
Metropolitan side Leisser Hill who beat Bukembe 3-2 to advance to the
finals in presence of ‘Chris Froome’ who had cycled all the way to
Turkana to cheer the team during the regional games.

Joseph Waithaka and Kelvin Owino scored for last year’s runners up and
Kajiado based team while Victor Omondi nettedfor Bungoma based side
Bukembe who knocked out giants St Anthony to gain all important fame
in regionals.
In football girls, defending champions Wiyeta secured their final slot after
brilliantly edging out the hosts Nyakach girls by 2-0.
The match instrumental players
Judith Musimbi and Stella Anyango each netted one for the victory.
They will take on St John’s Kaloleni who were forced
to a one all draw by Nginda girls before the game was decided by the
penalty shootout where Coastal side emerged victorious by 6-5 scoreline.
The teams will be meeting for the second time after squaring it out
during the group encounter where Nzoia region side won by 2-0.In Volleyball
girls, AIC Kosirai from Mau region stunned former Champions and Nzoia
region representatives Lugulu girls by 3-1 to advance to the finals set for
tomorrow at Kisumu Boys high school where they will face debutants and high
flying Nairobi County side Soweto girls who knocked out Sega girls of Lake
region by 3 sets to 1.This will be a repeat of the hotly
contested pool match where girls from Kibra slums won by 3-2.
Defending men champions Malava boys will battle it out with Cheptil
from Mau region after
both teams overcame their opponents Tetu and Coastal side Waa in their
respective semifinals by 3 sets to nil at the same venue.
The winning teams in tomorrow’s finals will qualifu for the upcoming
East Africa school games in Eldoret later this year.
