After a long holiday coupled with mourning when Kenya lost its two rugby players, Kenya Cup resumes this weekend with seven matches to be played on Saturday in various grounds as Kenya seeks to defend Elgon Cup title.
Title holders Kabras Sugar will be hosted by 1985 champions Mwamba RFC at Nairobi Railway Club, all 17 record champions Nondescripts will host less fortunate Blak Blad at Jamhuri Park at 2.00pm, Strathmore Leos will play host ten times champions Resolution Impala Saracens at 4.00pm at Madaraka, three times champions Mean Machine will play against Western Bulls at University of Nairobi starting 4pm, double champion Top Fry Nakuru to four time champions Kenya Commercial Bank at Nakuru Athletics Club, while Menengai Cream Homeboyz will tackle eight times Sportpesa Harlequins at Jamhuri Park at 4:15pm.
Jamhuri Park will host two matches of Nondescripts against Blak Blad followed by Menengai Cream Homeboyz at 4:15pm.
Meanwhile Kenya will be defending its Elgon Cup title after the fixture was released.
The timetable follows last year’s as Ugnada will first host Kenya on June 10th and a return leg on June 24th where the Nairobi leg will be part of the opening round of the 2017 Africa Cup
Named after Mount Elgon, a mountain straddling the Kenya-Uganda border, this competition has been played between the two sides since 2004.
Kenya are the current champions after reclaiming the crown last year with 93-34 aggregate score, winning the first leg 48-10 in Kampala, following it up with a 45-24 win in Nairobi.
