Home golfer Philip Gathii won the Governor’s shield golf tournament on Saturday held at par 72 Nakuru golf course.
Playing handicap 20, Gathii won the Kinuthia Mbugua sponsored tournament after an impressive play, overpowering his 130 other golfers that teed off in the Nakuru based club.
In the opening nine, he cared lower 18 stable ford points before returning with impressive 24 in the closing nine for a solid 42 stable ford points to lift the title.
His win left a big gap between him and his closest competitor and another home golfer J.G Mokaya with two points.
Mokaya finished second with 40 stable ford points. Handicap 8 player recorded identical 20 stable ford points in each nine for a total of 40 points.
Handicap 19 player Kirti Morjaria completed the podium places with 40 points after losing to Mokaya on count back. He played higher 22 points in the opening nine and on the return he managed a whooping 18 in the last nine.
Handicap 12 golfer M. Macharia was the male winner with scoring 20 and 19 points for a total of 39pnts while lady title went to handicap 20 player Susan Ikua who managed 39 points after recording 23 and and 16 points in each nine.
Kohn Kamais was the Gross winner with 35 Gross as guest prize went to Nandi Bears Captain E. Mutai after playing handicap 17 with a score of 20 and 17 in each nine while Junior title was won by Daniel Kiragu playing 18 on the first nine and 18 on the 2nd nine a total of 36 points.
Hassan Ali Nanu won the first nine prize on 23 points and second nine prize was won by Karori Kahuthu with 22pts. Longest drive men was won by Daniel Kiragu and ladies prize was won Clementine Muli and nearest to Pin was won by Hassan Fazal.
