Agnes Tirop gives Kenya second bronze

Former world cross country champion Agnes Tirop Jebet won the second bronze medal for Kenya on the second day of IAAF world championships in London.

Tirop was the only Kenyan on the podium after 10,000m All Africa Games champion Alice Aprot and reigning world cross country champion Irene Cheptai faded away in the 10,000m race at the Olympic stadium.

The race was turned into Kenya against Ethiopians but luck belonged to Ethiopians Almaz Ayana and Tirunesh Dibaba who won gold and silver medals respectively.

Ayana ran on her own after overpowering her competitors on the eight lap and went ahead to lift the title timing 30:16.32 followed by Dibaba who timed 32:02.69 and Tirop registered 31:03.50, with all of them registering personal best.
