New York City Marathon: Mary Keitany, Wilson Kipsang, Geoffrey Kamworor set to shine

Kenyan runners will this Sunday rock the streets of New York in this year’s New York Marathon that has in recent years dominated by East African athletes led by Kenya and Ethiopia.

Mary Keitany will be seeking her fourth win in a row, former world half marathon record holder Wilson Kipsang to redeem his image after failing to defend his title last year and the 2017 Berlin marathon and double world half marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor enjoy the big boys league.

Keitany, who has hit a hat trick on the course, won London marathon this year with a world record will be facing off with double IAAF world marathon champion Ednah Kiplagat and Betsy Saina.

The 2017 IAAF world marathon silver medalist, Kiplagat, won the race in 2010 and followed by 2014 Boston marathon title and is expected to be the strong challenger.

After finishing 6th at the 2017 10,000m in during Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in Brazil, Saina will be on the starting lineup, competing in her second marathon in her career after launching in Tokyo marathon come February.

Wilson Kipsang, won the race in 2015 but failed to defend the title in 2016 and will be trying his level to win the race after dropping out of Berlin marathon last month.

When he finished second in 2015, Kamworor the double world cross country champion is hyped to give a great challenge for the title.
