Athletics Kenya cross country: Sandra Chebet, David Bett wins

Sandra Chebet showed her dominance when she won the opening series of Athletics Kenya cross country meeting as newcomer David Bett shone in men’s senior race held at Posta Grounds, Nairobi.

It was a good day for upcoming runners Kiprono Sitonik and Beatrice Chebet won men and women junior races respectively.

The former world Youth 3,000m silver medalist Chebet faced off with experienced runners like Lilin Kasait and Gloria Kite to emerge victorious in 10kmsenior women clocking 32:53:2.

The Kericho based runner beat Kasait from West Pokot to second while Kite finished third timing 33:14.9 and 34:01.07 respectively for podium places.

In men’s 10km race, upstart David Bett won in 29:11.09 followed closely by Peter Matelong and Peter Njoroge winding the podium.

Matelong, the young brother to Richardmatelong was second in 29:29.2 and Njoroge was third in 29:30.8.
