IRB Series: Oscar Ayodi to captain Shujaa in Dubai7s

In absence of injured Kenya7s captain Andrew Amonde, Oscar Ayodi will wear the armband in the opening fixture of World Rugby sevens Series set for Dubai7s and Cap Town next month.

The Homeboyz Centre Ayodi was named the captain following the Hernia injury that has kept Kenya Commercial Bank’s Amonde out of the competition.

The Shujaa has been pooled together with title defending champions South Africa, Uganda and Canada, in what will be African derby.

Amonde picked the injury during Christie Sevens last month and is expected to miss the two opening legs and he may be back at the Sydney7s and Hamilton7s in the New Year.

Ayodi will be assisted by Willy Ambaka. Ayodi was delighted with the honour and assured Kenyans that the burden of captaincy will not affect his game after one year out
with a knee injury.
