South Africa thrashed Kenya 48-05 in the pool A second encounter in the opening day of Dubai Sevens today.
The Blitzboks came from five points down to beat Kenya, as they recorded their second win of the day.
Jeff Oluoch made the opening try for Shujaa to go 5-0 up against the defending tournament champions.
But the world Series champions responded fast with back to back tries from Seabelo Senatla to go 12-5 up before Cecil Afrika scored to see them go 17-5 on break.
Senatla added his third of the match after the restart, played in by Afrika to go over the chalk, South Africa pulling further away, the score 22-5 in their favour.
Branco du Preez put Shujaa under more pressure, beating the Kenyan defenders to land a converted try, 29-5 to the Blitzbok.
Substitute Justin Geduld went past the white wash with the conversion sailing through for 36-5 and it was Kwagga Smith’s turn to add to Shujaa’s misery, 41-5 which soon ended with Rosco Speckman’s converted effort.
The 48-5 result needing Kenya to beat Uganda in their last encounter while counting on South Africa to beat Canada to keep their cup quarterfinals.
