Shujaa made their second win in the World Series opener by beating neighbours Uganda in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in pool A match.
Kenyan team secured a 29-14 win over neighbours who are the reigning African sevens champions Uganda to qualify into main cup quarter final.
As first runner in Pool A behind South Africa, Shujaa booked a date with New Zealand at 10.44am East African Time.
Dennis Ombachi put Shujaa ahead but got injured as he went over for the try, Sammy Oliech converting for a 7-0 lead.
Uganda scored off the restart, Solomon Okiya reacting quickest to the loose ball to score under the posts, Wokorach converting to tie up the score in mid first half.
Eden Agero scored off the quick tap after Uganda had been penalized for side entry,his try putting Shujaa 12-7 up
Dan Sikuta, collecting the ball from the break down, fended off his Kabras Sugar team mate Wokorach to score a converted try to see Innocent Simiyu’s charges go 19-7 up but Uganda still had a response in them, Wokorach finishing off the attack,scoring and converting for a 19-14 lead at the interval.
Oscar Ayodi ran straight down the middle of the park to score after the restart, 24-14 to Shujaa.
Brian Tanga added to Shujaa’s tally with a darting run down the left flank, Oliech’s attempted conversion bouncing off the posts, Shujaa holding out for the result.
