Goalkeeper Mark Kioko has been released by Mathare United and acquired the services of Wazito Fc’s Johnston Omurwa on a three year contract.
The Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Mathare and newly promoted Wazito will not enjoy the services Kioko and respectively in the 2018 calendar with KPL set to begin next month.
Kioko becomes the sixth player to be released by Mathare after Victor Ashinga, Frank Liyayi, Musa Oundo, Harrison Mwendwa and Brian Nyakan in the transfer window that ends this month.
Kioko has been at Matahre for one season (2017) and was picked during talent search organised by the club and made two appearances for Thika based club.
The keeper leaves the club after their under 20 keeper Job Ochieng arrived at the club together with injured Wycliffe Kasaya after three months.
After releasing Kioko, Mathare acquired the services of Omurwa, who was instrumental for Wazito guiding his team to finish second with 80points behind Vihiga United and was promoted to KPL from National Super League.
His performances caught the eye of Mathare tactician, Francis Kimanzi, who sees him as a valuable addition to his squad as he continues to rebuild ahead of the upcoming season.
