Nakuru RFC’s Oscar Ouma will captain Kenya Sevens ahead of HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series despite the return of then captain Andrew Amonde who has returned after a long spell of injury.
With his return, Amonde has been named in the traveling squad for the next two meetings of Sydney and Hamilton legs, the third and fourth legs of the series.
Coming from Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Amonde will pair with Kabras Sugar duo of Dan Sikuta and Brian Tanga in the Kenya team seeking consistency and better performance.
The squad was named by head Coach Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu on Friday and retained the bulk of the team that took part in the opening two legs of the series in Dubai and Cape Town.
But Oscar Ayodi will miss the two legs as he recovers from an ankle injury he sustained in Cape Town and Ouma and assisted by Impala Saracens’s Sammy Oliech.
Menengai Oilers’ Sam Muregi will welcome his teammate Eric Ombasa as he makes his debut for Shujaa. Other players on the plane to Down Under are regulars Willy Ambaka and Eden Agero both from Kenya Harlequin, Homeboyz RFC pair of Jeff Oluoch and Augustine Lugonzo, Nelson Oyoo (Nakuru) and Arthur Owira (KCB).
