Allan Kissit’s last minute penalty saved Western Bulls blushes against their hosts University of Eldoret (UOE) as Menengai Oilers continued with their unbeaten run against Moi University in the ongoing Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Championships.
It was a tough match between UOE, Trojans against Western Bulls popularly called Echulusi in a match played at University of Eldoret ground on Saturday evening.
The two teams scored all their tries in the first half with Kissit making sure that they travel back to Kakamega with maximum points.
Trojans Edwin Yatich opened the score with his right foot penalty for 3-0 lead against visitors before his namesake Edwin Kimetto going past the white wash that was well converted by Yatich for a 10-0 lead for the hosts.
Masculine Echulusi worked their way and Teddy Akala and Gilbert Ohindo made two unconverted tries by Kissit for the two rivals to go into break with 10 points apiece.
With five minutes left for the final whistle, Kissit converted a penalty to save blushes against UOE for a 13-10 win.
At Moi University Main Campus ground, Nakuru based Menengai Oilers continued with their unbeaten run, beating hosts Moi University 27-05.
Harold Anduvate made unconverted try by Daniel Abunji before Derick Keyoga added double tries for that were converted by Abunji as they went into drinks with visitor leading 17-0.
On resumption, the Oilers started from where they left as Rodgers Audi went past the try line that was converted by Abunji for 24-0 lead and scored a penalty for 27-0 but host’s Tony Khandambi made a consolation try for the hosts at for 27-05 win.
