Anthony Wambani is the new winner of February Sportpesa cum Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) player of the month.
The midfielder has scored three goals for his Bandari fc, giving his club six points.
At 18, Wambani was also awarded a 49 inch LG television set as well as Sh150,000 in cash shared in a ratio of 2:1 with his Bandari compatriots.
He netted a brace against Sofapaka on the opening day of Kenya Premier League (KPL) before adding his second goal against debutants Wazito FC, becoming the most influential players in the league so far.
He beat team mate Farouk Shikalo, Crispin Oduor (Mathare United) and Meddie Kagere of Gor Mahia.
Wambani received 18 points from journalists to earn himself the best midfielder.
“I’m glad I got off well this season and my prayer and hope is that I get even better because I believe there is more I can show. This award is humbling to me as I did not expect it even though I knew I did well in February.”
