Kipsombe, Chebisaas, Barakeiywo shine at school games

It was an easy win for St. Michael Boys, Kipsombe against their rivals Kipsangui in rugby15s Uasin Gishu County secondary schools sports Association played today at Wareng High school.

As Barakeiywo and Chebisaas shone in women’s and men’s handball finals played at University of Eldoret (UOE).

The much hyped final match, failed to meet extectations of many rugby lovers as they easily beat Kipsangui 22-0 to book for a slot at next week’s Rift Valley Secondary Schools Sports Association in Kitale Trans Nzoia County.

Dennis Kibet went past the try line with just four minutes into the match that Noel Kiplimo failed to convert to take 5-0 lead.

But Kiplimo redeem himself by converting a penalty to extend the lead to 8-0. Emmanuel Kipchumba added a converted try by Meshack Biwott, before ending with converting Anthony Barasa’s try for a 22-0 win.

Head coach Jack Adembesa was optimistic that they will perform well at the regional championships.

“We want to do our best at the regional and come with a win,” said Adembesa.

Kipsombe beat 48 unanswered points against Kapsoya while Kipsangui outshone hosts Wareng 15-0 in the semi final match.

In early matches in quarter finals, Arnesen’s lost 0-3 to Kipsombe as Cheplaskei narrowly lost to hosts by 3-6 while finalists Kipsngui were 8-0 winners against Kamagut and Kapsoya won by a point  by 13-12 to Ceng’alo.

Chebisaas boys will represent Uasin Gishu County at the regionallevel following their narrow win against Suzy Peacock in one of the most physical encounter at University of Eldoret ground.

Chebisaas who had beaten stubborn 14-10 won the final match by small margin of Tasagoi by 15-12 while their opponents beat Lemoru 14-18 in a match that saw three players red carded for indiscipline that forced the match to stop for about 20 minutes as official seek the way forward and any available punishment.
