GSU, Kenya Prison bundled out of title contest

Kenyan teams General Service Unit (GSU) and Kenya Prisons were eliminated from the ongoing 2018 Africa Men’s Volleyball Club championships going on in Cairo, Egypt.

Luck is with the hosts who have three teams into the last four- Al Ahly, Guish and Smouha and they are joined by Libya’s Sewhly.

GSU lost the quarter final match to Al Ahly (Egypt) 3-1 (25-12, 25-15, 26-28, 25-10) while Kenya Prison succumbed to El Guish 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-20).

In group stages, GSU had lost to El Guish in pool D while Kenya Prison lost to Al Ahly in pool A matches.

Smouha fought to beat Aviation in a long Marathon 3-2 (20-25, 28-26, 25-22, 18-25, 15-10).

The only outsider in the championships is Swehly who beat their home opponents Ahly Benighazi in a thrilling encounter 3-1 (25-14, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23).

Ahly to meet Smouha in All Egyptian semifinal on Tuesday, while Swehly take on El Guish in the other semis.

GSU face Aviation and Prisons line up against Ahly BeniGhazi for the 5 to 8 places.
