Simon Njogu from Great Rift Golf Resort won the Winston Churchill Cup, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) played today on par 72 Thika Sports Club.
Njogu played one under par 71 on par 73 course in the final round and win the 2018 event beating defending champion Mike Kisia.
He improved from his one over par 73 in the first round on Saturday as search for points for amateurs intensified.
With the days full of action where golfers played 36 holes, he won the title with level par gross 144 (73 and 71).
It was good outing for Njogu who beat Vet Lab’s Isaiah Otuke by four shots.
Otuke carded 73 and 75 for 148 ahead of Isaac Makhoha (Vet Lab) who tied for third place just like Limuru’s John Karichu and Dennis Saikwa of Royal.
Karichu beat the others on countback to finish third having shot one over in the last round.
Saikwa had the overnight lead with one over gross 73 and the second round went to Churchill Cup defending champion Kisia of Vet Lab.
