Rift Valley rugby 15s champions Menengai shocked the country when they eliminated defending and multiple champions Kakamega High school from the national Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) at Kanagru high school, Embu.
Menengai from Nakuru high school will now face Upper Hill in final match. Meaning a new champion will be crowned.
Menengai ousted Kakamega High 20-16 in the semis while Upper Hill downed St Mary’s Yala 24-3 in the second semifinal.
Western representatives Butere Girls and Sigalame High will be seeking their maiden titles in girls’ and boys’ basketball when they play at the final.
Debutants Buetere will play against champions Kaya Tiwi and while Sigalame entertain Laiser Hill.
In a repeat of last year’s finals, reigning hockey champions St Anthony’s Kitale face Upper Hill while Moi Girls Kamusinga and Kimilili Boys will fancy their chances of reclaiming their handball crowns as they battle Sega and Kanyawanga in girls finals.
Butere eliminated Buru Buru Girls 63-53 as Kaya Tiwi beat Loreto 31-29 in semifinals when Kaya Tiwi seek revenge after falling 74-65 in the preliminary stage against Butere.
Girls’ hockey will also see new winners crowned as Tigoi Girls and Trans Nzoia battle for the title.
