Olympic Games champions Vivian Cheruiyot and Eliud Kipchoge were the winners of 2018 Virgin London marathon held today in England.
Cheruiyot, the 5,000m won the first women’s race before Kipchoge won the men’s race in an all Kenyan wins in both gender.
But as London celebrated the win, Eldoret was also live, with athletes, fans and friends gathering in various social joints feel the race.
Kipchoge’s wife Grace Sugut followed live at the Clique Hotel under thw viewerthon courtesy of Bank of Africa and Isuzu.
“Am happy for my husband’s win and I prayed for hime to ensure that he wins. The win has brought joy to the house,” said Sugut.
Pocket Rocket Cheruiyot won in 2:18.31 followed by Brigid Kosgei (2:20.13) and Tadele Bekele 2:21.30.
Cheruiyot won the race beating defending champion Mary Keitany came 5th with 2:24.27.
Kipchoge won the race in 2:04.41 ahead of Ethiopian Tola Shura Kitata to second in homegrown Mo Farah.
In Eldoret, athletes led by Brimin Kipruto, Ezekiel Kemboi, Geoffrey Kamworor among others stayed put for the London race.
