Ian Snook names formidable squad

Newly appointed Kenya Simba’s (Kenya national 15s rugby team) Coach Ian Snook has named a 35 man squad ahead of 2018 Rugby Africa Gold Cup that serves as the qualifier for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

But in Snook’s line up, notable players like Dennis Muhanji and David Ambunya will miss the tour after a the conclusion of two sets of trials a fortnight ago for scouting new blood as well as checking the fitness of seasoned players.

Kenya Cup champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) had the lion’s share in the squad producing 11 players led by captain Curtis Lilako followed by new Enterprise Cup champions Homeboyz with 7 players.

Impala had 5 players same as Kabras, Strathmore Leos had 2 while Nondies was the club that produced list players with only Biko Adema.

The Kenya Simbas will be out to seek qualification to the World Cup for the first time ever when they start their campaign away to Morocco June 23.

The team will also be out to recapture the African title that they last won in 2013 with Namibia domination the continental trophy.
