Four pupils from St. Peter’s Primary School, Juja will represent Kenya at the International primary Schools Chess festival in Sochi, Russia next week.
The one week long championships will be good for quartet Robert Irungu, Benjamin Odhiambo, Abriana Muthoni and Joe Mesh in a tournament that kicks on first June to 9th June in a country that will host the 2018 FIFA world Cup.
The pupils jetted out of the country today for the championships that the finest chess players from all over the world and is expected to be closely contested tournament with kenya making a debut in the world showpiece.
The school toped in the primary schools’ category during the National Youth Chess Championship held in April at Kaimsoi Girls High School.
Hosts will be defending the overall title and are favoured in the championships in the annual event.
Juja school won against rivals Makini School and Membly Titans which were placed second and third respectively.
