Mwiruti, Plateau in semis at school games

Mwiruti and Plateau secondary schools won all their pool matches, without conceding a goal in the Uasin Gishu Secondary School Sports Association (UGSSSA) played today at Hill school ground.

Coached Fredrick Owino, the under 19 football defending champions Mwiruti boys became the first team to qualify into semi final match to be played on Saturday at the same venue.


They won two of their pool D matches, netting four unanswered goals against Chesegor and Testimony schools respectively.

In the last match against Testimony, Henry Mbugua was on target for Mwiruti on the 15th minute of the first half capitalizing on the defence lapse to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Plateau vs Bwayi

Vincent Ogweno added the second from his powerful foul shot with his right foot as they went for water break with 2-0.

On resumption, Kelvin Bush and Maxwell Kasoti sealed the 4-0 victory for the defending champions reaming with two hurdles to defend their title.

It was another 100% win for Plateau Girls under the tutelage of Nathan Kipng’etich. Judith Koech netted a brace for Plateau in one of the one sided match against Bwayi.

Koech opened the score on the 10th minute from her right foot shot in the first half. She added her second in the second half on 30th minute in the 20 minute play in each half as Sheilah Lumach and Naomi Saina were on the score sheet for a goal apiece for a 4-0 win.

In their second match, Plateau won 2-0 against St. Catherine High School, Kesses to make it to the semi final match to be played on Saturday at the same venue.

In rugby-seven-a-side, Moi Barracks lost all their pool A matches, first, they lost 22-05 to University of Eldoret (UOE) and by similar margin to Cheplaskei as Cheplaskei lost the second match to Mworuti 5-10.

It was a five all draw in pool B. Uasin Gishu High school played 5-5 to Ceng’alo and Wareng as Ceng’alo played the same to Wareng in an open pool.
