Plateau Girls scored unanswered six times against Kuinet in girls’ under 19 football final match to secure a ticket for Rift Valley Region in the Secondary schools.
As Daniel Kogo scored a solitary goal for Wareng High school to lock out Uasin Gishu High School in boys’ under 19 final match.
Plateau’s super striker Judith Koech scored a hat-trick simultaneously in the one sided match played at Hill School ground.
Naomi Jebitok netted first with two minutes into the match to give Moiben based team a lead before Betty Jerono adding the second as they went into break 2-0 up.
After missing to score in the first half, Koech scored her first goal of the match with three minutes into the second half. She added her second seven minutes later and a hat trick on the 42nd minute in the 25 minute play in each half as Eddah Kemei added her name on the score sheet to make it 6-0 on the final whistle.
Captain Jebitok said as a team, they have a mission of competing at the national level which will be held at the same venue late June.
“We came here to compete and win and we have managed to do that. We are expecting our oopnents to support us at the regional level. Our win did not come easy but through serious training,” said a form three student.
In boys category, Uasin Gishu high school goalkeeper after he failed to stop a long ball from Daniel Kogo.
The two teams played out for a barren draw before Kogo broke the deadlock on 35th minute.
In semi final match, Plateau ousted Tapsagoi in post match penalties after a barren draw in what was a final before a final.
But Tapsagoi failed to convert three of their opening shots while Saina, Gloria Chepkemei and Lydia Lelei were on the score sheet.
In another semi final, Kuinet edged out Kaplelach with a lone goal through Sharon Limo.
In boys’ semis, defending champions Mwiruti lost to Uasin Gishu 5-4 in post match penalties after a barren draw while Wareng won 5-3 against Harvard in another shootout after one all draw with goals from Fredrick Mudambi and Paul Githwambi for wareng and Harvard respectively.
