Paul Gitau has been appointed as the new coach for Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Under-20 women’s squad ahead of Africa Nations Championship set for next month at the Safaricom Indoor Arena, Kasarani.
The former Kenyan international is expected guide the team for this year’s FIVB world Championship later in the year.
The Naks coach returns to the national team assignment having guided the senior women’s team ‘B’ to win gold medal during the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville in 2016.
With his ambitions to make a successful season ahead of Kasarani showdown, Gitau will be deputised by former Mount Kenya University (MKU) women’s team coach Halima Bakari while the team’s trainer will be Kenya Defence Forces women’s team coach and experienced national team setter, Elisha Aliwa.
The team manager will be the national under-18 girls coach and celebrated former international player, Catherine Mabwi.
Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) vice chairman Charles Nyaberi confirmed the development, saying the appointments were reached at during the National Executive Committee meeting held over the weekend.
