Simbas host Cranes in return leg

Fierce battle is expected at this weekend’s Elgon Cup cum Africa Gold Cup when Simbas, the Kenya Rugby-15-a-side host Uganda’s Rugby Cranes at RFUEA Ground.

Kenya comes into the match a shoulder higher following their 34-16 win against their Ugandan side in the Eldon Cup first leg played on 26th May in Kampala, Uganda, which also counts as Rugby Africa Gold Cup in the run up to 2019 Rugby World Cup qualifier to be staged in Japan.

Favourite Kenya has had three wins in two matches so far played. In the opener, Kenya beat Cranes 34-16 followed by their first win against Morocco (28-24) and last weekend’s win over visiting Zimbabwe 45-36.

The East African countries have been fighting for the Elgon Cup title since 2004

The Africa Gold Cup fixture has not favoured Uganda who lost 55-6 to their host Namibia. The Simbas on the other hand are expected to unveil their match day squad on Thursday morning.
