Two extra time goals from Azam Ditrim nchimbi and Bruce Kangwa dimmed the stars of Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia from taking part in the 2018 Cecafa Kagame Cup Club Championships.
The defending champions Azam have one step in defending the title as Gor Mahia will still wait for long to win the title that started 32 years ago.
The Tanzanian side Azam stormed to the finals where they will face either Tanzania league champions Simba or Zanzibar’s Jeshi La Kujenga Uchumi (JKU).
Gor and Azam had played to a goalless draw in regular time before Nchimbi broke the deadlock in the 92nd minute with a shot from outside 18 after Gor defenders failed to clear Yahya Zayd’s shot that had been blocked by Harun Shakava.
Desperate for an equaliser to perhaps send the match to post-match penalties, Gor pushed men forward pulling strings but Azam goalkeeper Razak Abalora had different answers and eight minutes later, Kangwa broke down the left flank to score from the near post with Gor custodian Boniface Oluoch hapless.
