Following her exploits at the World Under 20 championships in Tampere, Finland, Celliphine Chespol will be the star attraction at this weekend’s IAAF Monaco Diamond League in France.
Chespol was the only Kenyan to have defended her title she won 2016 staged in Bydgosczcz, Poland.
She won 3,000m steeplechase at Ratina stadium guiding Kenya to top the world U20 table with six gold medals, four silver and a bronze.
Chespol will be chasing the title against other Kenyans Roseline Cheng’etich, Beatrice Chepkoech, sisters Norah Jeruto and Daisy Jepkemei and former world champion Hyvin Kiyeng.
Olympic champion Conseslus Kipruto will be leading men’s contingent against crwoded field that has Amos Kirui, Emmanuel Kiprono, Benjamin Kigen, Abraham Kibiwott and Nicholas Bett.
Timothy Cheruiyot will be in action competing in 1,500m against Jackson Kivuva, world champion Eliah Manangoi and Charles Simotwo.
Olympic bronze medalist Margaret Nyairera will be in contention in 800m women. She will be competing with Emily Tuei on French soil while Alfred Kipketer will be facing off with former world under 20 champion Jonatahn Kitilit in men’s category.
