Reigning Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) champions General Service Unit (GSU) and Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) registered wins as KVF enters its 5th leg meeting in Mombasa’s Changamwe Ground.
GSU outshone perennial rivals Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) 3-1 to win the first match in men’s category in Mombasa County.
The title holders won the opening set 25-12 before former champions KDF overpowered the champions to win the second set of 25-20.
sensing defeat, The Fanya Fujo Uone side exerted pressure and won all the remaining two sets in 25-15 and 25-16 before sealing another victory against Mombasa based Mombasa Prison in straight sets of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-15.
It was a good day for Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) who defeated former champions and most favoured Prisons Kenya and Western Prison in straight sets.
KPA defeated the Warders 3-0 in 25-22, 25-19 and 25-17 in the first match and 25015, 25-13 and 25-20 in the second match.
In women’s category, Africa Club bronze medalist KPC showed their intentions to retain the title by winning double in Mombasa.
They beat KDF in straight sets of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-18 before winning against Ashton by similar margin.
The champions, lying fourth on the table with 12 points from four matches with new comers Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) leading the table with 14 points from seven matches.
Prison Kenya women handed the second loss to KDF in straight sets of 25-21, 25-12 and 25-20.
