Reigning volleyball champions National Industrial Training Institute (NITA) have one step in defending women’s Kenya Technical Institution Sports Association (KETISA) title when they face hosts Eldoret Polytechnic that ongoing games at the Eldoret Polytechnic ground.
The champions defeated Kisii Polytechnic in straight sets of 25-14, 25-06 and 25-11 to make to the final hosts who defeated Kitale Polytechnic in straight sets of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-20.
NITA ousted former champions Kisumu Polytechnic 2-0 in the best of three sets with reigning champions winning all in 25-11 and 25-18 to make it to the semis while Kisii ousted Nyeri in quarters in 25-15 and 25-12.
NITA skipper Lydia Too was optimistic they will defend their title and they have prepared well both psychologically and physically to walk away with the title.
“When we arrived here, we were fatigued but after waking up well, we motivated ourselves and focus on our matches that is why we are playing well,” said Too the first-year student.
Taking advantage of home ground, Eldoret Polytechnic beat neighbours Kitale.
The hosts defeated Railway Training Institute (RTI) in quarter final 2-0 (25-13 and 25-09) while their opponents defeated Meru Polytechnic 2-0 (25-12, 25-11).
It was an easy ride into quarter finals for hosts Eldoret Polytechnic and reigning football champions NITA in men’s football match.
