Monica Nakamu and Edna Nasipwondi scored a goal each for Rift Valley region to be crowned new girls’ soccer champion of Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association (KPSSA) came to an end today in Nyeri.
Nakamu found the back of the net with only 14 minutes into the match after curving a left cross to score while Nasipodi sealed the victory on 54th minute for a 2-0-win trouncing defending champions Western region.
As Rift Valley girls’ won in their category at the final, their boys’ lost 4-2 against Nyanza 4-2 in extra-time.
The team captain Cecilia Akeke from Unity Primary School in Turkana said that they had prepared well noting that their opponents had energy and the team was strong, but they were determined and focused to win.
Rift valley won in both boys and girls handball titles. In girls’ thr champions trounced Nyanza 19 -9, before beating Coast region 28-14.
It was the same in Volleyball boys and girls. The champions beat Coast region by straight sets of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-21 as girls category Western 3-0 (25-23, 25-20 and 25-19).
