Kenyatta University sevens team Blak Blad won the last leg of Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) sevens title held at University of Nairobi ground today.
In the five legs played, Blak Blad won three out of five legs to be crowned series champions following their exploits in the championships that kicked off at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT).
Experienced Blak Blad defeated Strathore Unioversity-The Leos to lift the title. Through Ted Okal, KU won the first try that Lionel Agilit failed to convert as Leos responded with a Brian Alukwe converting Ian Bulali’s try to give the finalists 7-5 lead.
Brian Kadenge restored KU’s lead with his unconverted try by Agilit on the hooter for water break with the champions leading by 10-07.
Dennis Odhiambo extended the lead KU after break with Agilit converting for 17-07 lead and Okal sealed the victory for KU after touching between the posts, giving ease job for Agilit to convert for a 24-07 win.
Then KU was awarded overall series champions. Blak Blad won three out of five meetings.
After losing the opener at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) opener to Masinde Muliro Unoversity of Science and Technology (MMUST), the champions went ahead register a back to back titles by lifting Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) and Kaimosi meeting, the second and third meetings respectively.
MMUST won DeKUT finals while Mean Machine win the Egerton meeting a fortnight ago after trouncing hosts.
