Top seed Nderitu Gitonga and Martin Mutai enjoyed the overnight lead at the Kisii Scrabble Kenya Championships on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s final.
The Kirinyanga’s Nderitu led the premier division log after bagging 8 wins and dropping two points as well as Mutai of Standard Chartered Bank as curtains come down on the first day of scrabble action in Kisii County.
Stanley Njoroge from Post Bank was third, one and a half points behind the duo and half a point ahead of last month’s champion Bernard Koyyoko and top seed Allan Oyende.
John Sang of Uasin Gishu county has had an invincible day in the open division with 10 wins and a spread of 1142, he is closely followed by Angila Robert from Migori county on 9 wins and a spread of 1248 while Tarus Kipruto of UoE rounds up the podium with 8 wins. Action continues tomorrow at the Ufanisi Resort.
