Kenya will open their FIVB world Under 20 championships campaign against neighbours Tanzania in tomorrow’s under 20 africa Under 20 tournament at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.
At the same time, head coach Paul Gitau has axed 6 players ahead of the event.
Gitau had initially named a 20 member provisional squad that has been training Gitau, Halima Bakari and teams’ trainer Elisha Aliwa.
The six casualties include—Rael Chepkorir, Pauline Ito, Esther Nzaphila, Gloria Nato, Eileen Musungu and Esther Masubo.
Team captain Mercy Likhayo echoed Gitau’s sentiment, saying they are ready to give their best shot at the event. “We will do our best to ensure we register good results. Most of us haven’t played at this level, but we are all set and ready for the event, ” said Likhayo, who plays for the former power house Lugulu Girls High School.
