Victor Chumo and Antonina Kwambai were the winners of the 22nd edition of Lille Half Marathon ran today France.
Chumo, the former Kenya Defence Forces man who paced for Eliud Kipchoge in last year’s Breaking 2 won the men ahead of Ethiopian Heskel Tewelde and fellow Kenyan Wilfred Kimitei.
The Nandi born runner clocked 60:03, beating his then personal best of 60:10 set during the Venlo Half marathon in the year opener.
Tewelde clocked 60:04 beating 2016 Africa 10,000m silver medalist Wilfred Kimitei closed the podium three places in 60:06.
Reigning Rome Marathon champion Cosmas Birechcame (60:07) in fourth position as Erick Tirop was 5th placed timig 60:20.
Kwambai who trains in Iten, won the women’s race in 68:07 ahead of former Commonwealth 10,000m bronze medalist Innes Chenonge 74:53 in second position as Spaniard international Clair Desreumaux completing the podium in 76:25.
