Former world cross country champion Agnes Jebet Tirop and reigning Commonwealth Games 10,000m bronze medalist Rodgers Kwemoi were the winners of today’s 26th edition of Tilburg 10 Miles road race.
The duo, who have competed in various Diamond Leagues across the world shone in the City of Netherlands streets.
Tirop, the reigning world 10,000m bronze medalist won the race in 30:50 ahead of Ethiopian Tsehay Gemechu 31:07 before Ugandan Stella Chesang completing the podium in 31:44.
The Moi University born runner lowered the course record by 20 seconds of 30:30 that was set by Tirunesh Dibaba in 2013.
Eva Cherono and Alice Aprot both from Kenya took fourth and fifth place in 32:05 and 32:42 respectively.
It was sweet joy as Kwemoi won the title, making it an all Kenyan affair in men’s race.
The former world Under 20, 10,000m champion in Bydgoszcz, Poland won the race in 42:153 trouncing fellow Kenyan Noah Kipkemboi crossing the line in second place in 42:37.
Olympic marathon bronze medalist Galen Rupp from America was forced to finish in third place in 43:14.
Berhane Tesfaye from Ethiopia and Abel Chebet from Uganda crossed the line in fourth and fifth place in 43:35 and 43:42 respectively.
