Kenya’s Edwin Mudanyi played five under par to take the lead in the opening day of Uganda Open golf tournament on par 71 Entebbe Golf Club.
Vet Lab based golfer sunk four birdies with similar pars and a bogey to end first nine with three under par 32 before he managed two under 34 to end round one of 18 holes on top of the table.
Mudanyi leads with a single shot against Ronald Otile, said his plans worked hence scoring the best in the opener where golfers will play 72 holes in four rounds that ends on Saturday.
“It was a good round. Stuck on my game plan and it worked well,” said Mudanyi who led Kenyans John Karichu on the third place with one under 70.
Otile ended round one shot more over Mudanyi with four under par 67 as junior golfer Mutahi Kibugu in fourth position with one under 70 and Samuel Njoroge completing top five finishers with level par 71.
