Elvis Nandwa netted a brace as former Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Ulinzi Stars handed 2018 champions Gor Mahia their second successive wins in the KPL match played today at Machakos stadium.
The champions elect lost to Ulinzi after Sunday’s loss to relegation bound Thika United 1-0 at Thika stadium.
Nandwa was on target in the 37th minute before completing a brace in the 47th minute with Gor Mahia players recording their woes boycotting training due to unpaid August salary and bonuses.
The win was a major boost for Ulinzi Stars ahead of their Sunday FKF Shield semi-final against Kariobangi Sharks and head coach Dunstan Nyaudo was a pleased man.
The win lifted the Soldiers to fourth on 50 points, five behind second placed Bandari.
