Former world cross country champion Joseph Ebuya will lead a star studded filed in this Saturday’s 8th edition of Laikipia University Half marathon.
Ebuya, the man who ended the long wait for Kenya to win gold medal in 2010 since Paul Tergat had won in 1999 will be at the starting line up to ensure that he rekindles his skills in Laikipia County.
But the road race specialist will be battling out with reigning champion Donald Mitei as they seek to share the Kshs 1.5 million with the champion walking away with Kshs 200,000 as part of conserving Shamanei forest and also market the university as a centre of sports excellence.
Apart from the main event of 21km distance, there will be 10km race for elite athletes where winners will pocket Sh100,000 while the runner’s up will walk home Sh40,000 richer.
