Coast based Bandari FC will complete the 2018 Kenya Premier League (KPL) in second position after trouncing 2009 champions Sofapaka.
In a Mbaraki stadium based stadium, hosts Bandari, The Dockers rallied to hold Sofapaka in a rescheduled league match today.
Kepha Aswani scored for Sofapaka in the first half before William Wadri cancelled for Bandari in the second half, breaking the jinx of coast teams to finish second.
Sofapaka started the match positively and were lucky to grab the lead in the seventh minute. Aswani sent a long innocuous ball which Bandari goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo failed to gather cleanly and the ball slipped through his hands into the net.
Bandari fought hard in the remaining minutes of the first half but they were let down by poor finishing with Wadri, Abdalla Hassan, Yema Mwama and Dan Guya all culpable.
Their strong start to the second half saw them deservedly draw level through Ugandan Wadri who fired a low drive that gave compatriot Mathias Kigonya no chance in the Sofapaka goal.
Bandari will complete the season with games against relegation threatened Wazito and already relegated Thika United
