Home golfer Eliud Weche beat a host of other golfers to lift the inaugural Kenya Breweries golf tournament played today on par 73 Kitale Golf club.
Playing off handicap 11, Weche said that he actually played well after waking up in good moods to take to the greens.
“I woke up well prepared to play golf and all holes accepted me,” said the engineer.
Weche, in the winning spirit managed to shoot one under par net on the first nine, which he says encouraged.
He fired a par in the first hole par five followed by back to back bogeys in hole 2-4, recovered with a par, two bogeys before ending the inward nine with double pars.
He played one under in the second nine after firing two birdies six pars and a bogey to match on.
“In the second I played even better, scoring what one under gross that means I beat the course. Instead of playing 36 strokes I played 35. That is one better than the course that’s very good. I was too far beyond the rest,” added Weche.
“The course had great golfers, with higher handicap with a challenging course of running ball due to the dry weather in the region but at least I managed to play better due to my numerous practicing sessions to better my skills,” said Weche.
