President Uhuru Kenyatta feted three sportsmen during the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Day on Sunday at a colourful ceremony held at Kenyatta Barracks.
Ulinzi goalkeeper cum striker Francis Ochieng, welterweight boxer, Black Moses Mathenge and flyweight pugilist Simon Mulinge were the soldiers honoured by the President and were presented with certificate of recognition by the Head of State who is also the Commander in Chief (CIC).
Ochieng was recognized for the role he played in leading Ulinzi Stars to winning the 2010 Kenyan Premier League after conceding only 16 goals in 30 games.
His stint in the national football team was also mentioned, the player having captained Harambee Stars at one point.
The sportsmen presented with mementos by Kenyatta did not hide their joy. Ochieng, Mathenge and Mulinge said that was their moments after receiving souvenir from President Kenyatta
