Asbel Kipkorir and Nancy Jelagat were the new faces in the road race as they won the third edition of Chebara Dam Half marathon held over the weekend in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Reigning world 10,000m bronze medalist Agnes Jebet Tirop made her presence felt when she won the 8km cross country as Nicholas Kaguri won 10km senior men title.
Kipkorir won the 21km title timing 65:23.03 ahead of Martin Kiminy (65:30.04) and Hillary Chirchir on the podium places in 65:44.21.
Jelagat won the women’s half marathon when she clocked 72:04.18, leading Hilda Chesir and Beatrice Cheserek to second and third timing 72:20.21 and 72:20.32 respectively.
Seasonal runner Tirop won the 8km timing 24:50.68 as she plans to compete for her title at the world cross country next year.
The former world cross country champion edged out Dorcas Jepchirchir in 25:12.80 and Stella Jepkosgei completing the podium clocking 26:31.85.
In men’s 10km cross country, Nicholas Kaguri upstaged his opponents to claim the title in 27:49.86 ahead of race favourite Nicholas Kipkorir, the 2018 Ndalat Gaa cross country champion who finished second in 27:55.27 as Alex Kiptoo closed the podium clocking 28:24.77.
