Kass International Chief Executive Officer Julius Lemaon has assured athletes and public at large that they are set for Sunday’s Kass International marathon that returns after 2017 break.
Speaking to Dailysport.o.ke Lemaoni said they are expecting a number of athletes to compete in 5km fan run, 10km and elite 42km race that kicks off in Nandi County before ending in Uasin Gishu County at Eldoret Sports Club.
“We are expecting a large number of athletes to compete on Sunday as we have put enough measures to ensure we succeed in the marathon,” said Lemaon.
he added that they have received a large number of elite athletes who will be competing in 10km for both men and women as well as men’s 42km but the challenge is in 42km women.
“The less number of women runners is attributed to many marathons across the world recently but we have hope we will get a good number,” said Lemaon.
According to him, about 2000 athletes will be competing in the three categories with the majority yearning for 10km race and about 800m in marathon.
“Some athletes may fear competing in high altitude but we are requesting them to come out in large numbers for the top prizes,” he added.
Winners of 42km race will pocket kshs 1.5 million in both gender.
