Michael Wanjaa will captain National sevens Series champions Homeboyz as they debut for this year’s Dubai7s tournament set for December 1st.
Wanjala will lead a squad that was named by head coach Simon Odongo who replaced newly appointed Shujaa head coach Paul Murunga.
Homeboyz named the Dubai 7s squad on Sunday evening ahead of their departure on Wednesday with head Odongo set to take charge.
The squad features William Diffu, Max Kang’eri, new signing Monate Akwei, Cyprian Kuto, Bush Mwale and Mark Wandeto among others.
Set to play in the men’s international tournament, the Deejayz will take on Germany- coached by former Kenya 7s coach Vuyo Zanqga, Kuban and South Africa Academy which features two players who played against Homeboyz at the Safari 7s. Kurt Lee Arendse and Angus Van Niekerk are the said players.
Victor Ochoro, Bryan Juma, Zeden Marrow, Israel Soi, Brian Ayimba and Mark Wandeto are the other players named in the squad.
With the last year’s semi-finalists Samurai Team short of a sponsor for this year’s event, Samurai Rugby have provided tournament consultancy and general team assistance to Kenya 7s Series winners Homeboyz as they make their 1st appearance at the Tournament.
With Homeboyz set to be away for the weekend of Dec 1, their Kenya Cup game against Kenya Harlequin has since been postponed according to the head coach.
