Kitale golf captain Patrice Tomno is optimistic that Saturday’s Mulembe Golf will be one of the most successful tournaments on par 73 Kitale golf club.
Tomno said the club is expecting over 100 golfers to take part in the tournament with some days to Christmas celebrations on 24th December.
The annual tournament has attracted golfers from across the country especially neighbouring clubs like Eldoret Nakuru, Kakamega, Nandi Bears, Kericho among others.
“We are expecting a healthy competition from over 100 golfers on the course. With greens in good shape, holding the ball due to rainfall experienced in the region, the event will give a successful story,” said Tomno.
“The tournament will be big especially heading into the Christmas day where few tournaments have lined up in the country. We are well prepared for the tournament to accommodate a large turnout,” said Tomno.
But focus will be on club’s top golfer Philip Shiharsy. The handicap 2 player was optimistic that he will deliver good results come Saturday on home course.
“I am hoping to provide good results on my home club. I have put in more efforts to ensure that I get better results,” said Shiharsy.
The golfer has set his target to claim the title on one of the biggest golf courses in the country that will attract top golfers.
“It will be a Christmas for me on the course. Despite being busy with work schedule, I will travel to Kitale on time, have a few putting skills before the tournament,”added Shiharsy.
