Former Seville marathon champion Cosmas Lagat won the Mumbai marathon held today in Mumbai India.
Lagat was the only Kenyan on the podium in the race that was dominated by Ethiopians in both men and women.
Lagat cut the tape in 2:09.15 to claim the title failing to break Gideon Kipketer’s course record of 2:08.35 set in 2016.
Ethiopia’s Aychew Bantie came second timing 2:10.05 as Shumet Akalnew completed the podium at 2:10.55.
Race favourite Abera Kuma was 7th overall timing 2:13.10
Women’s race, Worknesh Alemu won the race timing 2:25.45 leading podium sweep for Ethiopians.
Amane Gobena was second clocking 2:26.09 as Birke Debele completed the podium in 2:26.39.
