Kenya prison women volleyball coach Josp Barasa has confidence that they will display good performance at this year’s Africa Club Championships set for Cairo, Egypt in two weeks’ time.
Barasa, who will skip Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) League that kicks off this Friday in Kitale because the continental assignment said his focus is to come home with a medal from the North African nation.
“My target is to come home with a medal. Last year, we had a little mess up, which we have corrected as a team and we want to work on well,” said Barasa on Tuesday morning during a training session at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The reigning KVF champions finished 4th last year after losing to their arch rivals Kenya Ports Authority in the 3rd place play-off. The two will be heading to Cairo, seeking another title chase.
“We want to improve in our servicing, blocking and receiving to make us come home with a medal unlike last year. Our target is a medal. It doesent matter which one,” added Barasa who doubles up as the women’s national team assistant coach.
The wardress will be captained by veteran blocker Brackcides Agala who returns into the team after a year from maternity leave. She regains her position from left attacker Everlyne Makuto who captained the side the whole of last season.
“At this time, the preparation are in top gear and players are in high spirit, looking for better results in Cairo” said Barasa.
