Bungoma Super Stars were the heroes when they eliminated 2017 Sportpesa Shield Cup champions AFC Leopards in during the shield Cup match played at Buknumgu stadium while Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Western Stima edged National Super League (NSL) Wazito to progress.
Leopards were dumped by the lowly side Bungoma Sper Stars 3-4 in post match penalties following a one all draw.
George Menganyi scored first for Bungoma with just 10 minutes but Brian Marita cancelled the goal for Leopards in 76th minute to set spot kicks mood.
The winners converted the kicks through Hillary Simiyu, Patrick Kwitonda, Boniface Munyendo and Kevin Wafula as Eugene Olouch while losers scored through Whyvonne Isuza, Eugene Mukangalu and Isaac Kipyego while Robinson Kamura and Brian Marita missed.
In Kisumu, Western Stima came from a goal down to down Wazito 2-1 to make it into quarterfinals.
Derrick Onyango scored for for Wazito with 16th minute into the game but Stima’s goalkeeper Samuel Odhiambo converted the spot kick to level after five minutes into the second half before Kennedy Otieno scored the winner in the 66th minute.
