Kenya lose Hong Kong opener

Kenya lost the opening match against Fiji in the opening day of HSBC World sevens series in Hong Kong.

Shujaa lost to Fiji 22-05 with Jeff Oluoch scored Kenya’s sole try that was not converted with the Fijians running in four tries and one conversion.

Aminiasi Tuimaba was the first to go over for Fiji followed by Vilimoni Botitu and Jerry Tuwai before Alasio Naduva rounded the scoring.

Nondies center Oscar Dennis made his debut in the defeat starting from the bench alongside Bush Mwale, Johnstone Olindi, Mark Wandeto and Augustine Lugonzo.

The other pool clash ended New Zealand 40 Australia 19. Kenya closes day one at position three in pool C with one point, same as fourth placed Australia but due to goal difference.

Kenya’s second match will be against New Zealand at 7.51am on Saturday before closing pool matches against Australia at 11.33am also on Saturday morning.
