Athletes safe after morning accident in Kapsabet

Athletes who were involved in today’s morning accident have been trated and discharged at Kapsabet Referral Hospital.

The runners who were training along Kapsabet-Olessos road sustained minor injuries as they prepared for their races in Europe next month.

Stella Barsosio who was one of the injured athlete said she was training as part of her preparations for next month’s Valencia 10km road race.

She was in a company of her husband Edwin Cheruiyot, Hillary Bett and Amos Bomori, who were all injured.

“As were almost ending our training, the vehicle rammed into us from behind, hitting four us near Chebarbar junction,” said Barsosio adding that her husband was the most affected.

Just like her, Bett was also training for a race in france next month.

Due to the incident, several athletes and coaches flocked the hospital in a sign of solidarity with their colleagues.

Confirming the incident on phone, Nandi county police Commander Thoma Ngeiywo said that the owner of the vehicle has already recorded a statement at Kapsabet police station.

Ngeiwyo further revealed that vehicle has also been detained at kapsabet.
