Cash trapped Vihiga United has finally benn relegated following their loss against visiting Western Stima in the Kenya Premier league (KPL) match at Mumias Complex today.
And it will be the second time in a row Bandari FC will finish second after they were held 2009 champions Sofapaka in Mombasa’s Mbaraki stadium.
Vihiga who survived relegation last season fell to visiting Western Stima 1-2 and will finish the season second from bottom with 26 points and joins Mount Kenya United as the season’s two confirmed casualties.
Amos Kigadi gave hosts the lead that was cancelled out by Kennedy Owino and Henry Onyango.
At Bukhungu stadium, Zoo Kericho survived relegation following their 2-3 win against their hosts Kakamega Homeboyz.
Derrick Anami netted a hat trick for Zoo with Danson Chetambe scored the third goal to move out of relegation zone to 15th position on 32 points.
At Kasarani Stadium Mount Kenya United lost 3-0 to Shield Cup champions Kariobangi Sharks with goals from Julius Masaba, Erick Kapaito and Henry Juma.
Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) drew 2-2 against former champions Ulinzi Stars at Machakos.
Chrispinus Onyango scored first for KCB in the 12th but Enosh Ochieng leveled in the in the 39th minute.
Churchill Muloma gave the silders the lead in the 70th minute but Onyango was on target again to deny Ulinzi maximum points.
Bandari FC sealed their second position in a row after registering a barren draw against visiting Sofapaka.
The Mombasa based team has collected 63 points, four points clear of 3rd place Sofapaka.
Back to Machakos, former champions Tusker were 2-0 winners over AFC Leopards with goals from David Majak and Boniface Muchiri securing the points.
